PastPort to History:  Commemorating America’s 250th

In 2026, the United States of America turns 250! M-NCPPC, Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County invites you to use the booklet PastPort to History: Commemorating America’s 250th, to discover the lived experiences and roles of Prince Georgians in American history.

This 250th, explore history and culture in your own backyard!  

​

The PastPort program will run January  1, 2026 – December 31, 2026. 

​

Admission 

General admission is free throughout the 2026 calendar year at all museums and historic sites operated by the Department of Parks and Recreation, Prince George’s County.  

 

  • Free admission applies to everyone - whether or not they choose to participate in the PastPort program.  

  • Free admission applies to general museum entry only. Special programs and events may have an additional cost.  

  • Free admission only applies to historic sites operated by M-NCPPC, and does not apply to sites operated by community partners.

​How to get a PastPort 

  • You can get your PastPort in person at any participating museum or at select Prince George’s County locations.   

  • Find the full list of locations at pgparks.com/250.  

  • Pick-up sites include community centers, arts centers, nature centers, and senior centers. The list is organized by Northern and Southern regions for your convenience.  

 

How to Use the PastPort 

Use your PastPort to travel through time and discover the real stories of the people who built and shaped Prince George’s County. At each museum you visit, explore exhibits, programs, and tours, and discover how the past connects to your present. General admission to all museums is FREE.  

  • Visit all 7 museums.   

  • Collect all 7 PastPort stamps.   

  • Turn in your PastPort to enter a drawing for a FREE trip to any National Trust for Historic Preservation site you choose!   

  • PastPort must be submitted by December 31st to be eligible for the prize drawing. There are two ways to submit:

In-Person: Submit in-person at one of the participating museums. They can only be submitted at M-NCPPC museums, not at all the pick-up locations.   

​

Mail in: Send via mail using the address below. They must be postmarked by December 31, 2026.

Location and Directions

From the Beltway

Take the Beltway (I-495) towards College Park and exit at Kenilworth Avenue (Exit 23). Turn south on Kenilworth Avenue (Rte. 201) at the the end of the ramp. Turn right at traffic light at Campus Drive. Turn right at traffic light at Corporal Frank Scott Drive. Continue to the entrance of the airport parking lot. Turn right onto service road and proceed to museum parking lot.


From Baltimore-Washington Parkway

Exit at Route 193 (Greenbelt Road) West toward College Park. Turn left onto Kenilworth Avenue, proceed for approximately one and a half miles and turn right onto Campus Drive. Turn right at first traffic light, which is Corporal Frank Scott Drive. Continue to entrance of the airport parking lot. Turn right onto service road and proceed to museum parking lot.
 

From U.S. Route 1

Turn onto Campus Drive at traffic light at the north entrance of the University of Maryland. Proceed through 4 traffic lights. The next traffic light is Corporal Frank Scott Drive, turn left. Continue to entrance of the airport parking lot. Turn right onto service road and proceed to museum parking lot.

Parking

There is a parking lot in front of the museum and parking is free.

​

From College Park- U of MD Metro

  • After exiting your train, walk towards the East Kiss and Ride.

  • Walk past the bus stops towards River Road and Campus Drive.

  • Cross River Rd. at the light.

  • Keep walking straight on Campus Drive towards the next light. At the light turn left on Cpl. Frank Scott Drive. At the stop sign, go straight. Once you reach the roundabout, turn right towards the buildings and the College Park Aviation Museum will be on the left.
