The Restoration Shop
Since the museum’s opening in 1998, the College Park Aviation Museum operated a Restoration Shop that restored historic aircraft and constructed historically accurate reproductions for the museum.

The shop's story
Since the museum’s opening in 1998, the College Park Aviation Museum operated a Restoration Shop that restored historic aircraft and constructed historically accurate reproductions for the museum. It was staffed by a crew of dedicated and skilled volunteers, led by Restoration Shop Manager John Liebl. They spent thousands of hours on several major projects, including constructing the reproduction 1911 Curtiss Model D Pusher, constructing the reproduction 1912 Blèriot XI, restoring one and one-half Ercoupes and a 1940 Aeronca Chief, and retrofitting the 1939 Taylorcraft.
The shop crew members included John Liebl, Charles “Chuck” McKnelly, Dick Middlekauff, Dr. Jack Crabill, John Perikles, Stan Stankiewicz, Don Mack, Dennis Brennan, Chris Cwynar, Andy Guyton, Harry Chernikoff, Joe Conner, Tanny Ho, Willie Fallon, William Whitmore, Myron Williams, and Ronald Whiting.
